Ploughs and Cultivators

The plough is the main tool in agriculture. It serves to turn the soil, thereby softening and aerating it and extracting nutrients at the surface, while burying plant matter below for decay. Cultivators, on the other hand, soften and prepare the soil for sowing. They are classified in two types - harrowed and furrowed, depending on the crop for which the land is being prepared.
